TRAINING FOR OTHER ORGANISATIONS
Nottinghamshire's Rainbow Heritage is the only local organisation which provides this training.
The training can include some or all of the following elements;
- Getting familiar with what the "words" mean .. and which words not to use
- Homophobia, biphobia, transphobia: what they are. their frequency, their causes and the effects they have
- Homophobia, biphobia, transphobia in a wider context of general prejudice against minorities
- Myths and stereotypes
- Negative laws and recent positive changes in the law. Your responsibilities under the Equality Act.
- Coming out: what it means; what it's like to be "stuck in the closet" and what happens when you come out
- Contentious issues ("The Bible says it's wrong" etc)
- Supporting victims of LGBT+ hate crimes; why these crimes are
under-reported and how reporting can be encouraged
- Health issues and LGBT+ people's interaction with health care providers
- Same sex domestic abuse/Male rape
- Providing support for LGBT+ young people and students in our education system
- Local resources and support systems
